Town Government

Oakland operates under a Council–Manager form of government. The Town Council sets policy and legislative direction, and the Town Manager oversees daily operations.

Elections & Voting

Voting takes place at the Oakland Fire Station which is the designated polling location for the Town.

Property Taxes & Assessing

Property taxes are typically billed in July and are broken out into 4 installments. Due dates are listed on your tax bill and the Town website.

Sewer & Public Works

During business hours, contact the Environmental Services Department at 207-465-7198 or Public Works at 207-465-2408. If you cannot reach anyone, call 207-465-2202 to report it.  

Permits & Code Enforcement

Most construction, renovations, and certain property improvements require permits. Contact the Code Enforcement Office before starting any work 207-465-2842.

Animal Control

Contact the Town’s Animal Control Officer Don Decker at 207-399-8135.

Parks, Recreation & Community Facilities

Contact the Parks & Recreation Department or Town Office for availability and reservation procedures.

Records & Public Information

Submit a request to the Town Office. Some records may be available online.

Business & Economic Development

Contact the Code Enforcement Office and Town Office to learn about permits and licensing requirements. A Business license is $10.00.
