Council Members
Mike and wife Kelly have resided in Oakland since 1986. They’ve raised two children, Chris and Gabrielle, and have three grandchildren. Chris and his wife Sam are also Oakland residents with their two daughters. Gabrielle and her husband Jordan live in Buxton with their son.
Mike has served on the Oakland Town Council since 2007. Mike has also been a school bus driver for RSU 18 since 2004. Mike currently owns and operates KMD Driving School, Perks Auto, and KMD Motorcycle for the past 23 years.
In Mike’s earlier years he served 4 years in United States Air Force, was a Police Officer for 34 years, served in the Maine State House of Representatives 2016- 2022 and most recently has joined the Kennebec County Budget & Advisory committee 2023-present.
Mike has spear headed one of the largest community efforts for the past 20 years, the Community Thanksgiving Day Meal which is held at Messalonskee High School.
Mike enjoys spending time with my family and being involved in community events. He also enjoys speaking with our residents to hear any ideas or concerns that they may have.
Dana is an Oakland native and a 1959 graduate of Williams High School and a graduate of Southern Maine Technical College. He has retired from Central Maine Power Company after 37 years in the Sub-stations department.
He has served on the Budget and Advisory Committee for over 20 years and as chairman for many of them. He has served on the Town Council since being elected in 2006. He is active in many bodies of Masonry and a 55 year member of Messalonskee Lodge, serving as Master for 3 years and has been the secretary since 2005. He is the President of the Oakland Masonic Association. He has worked on the Oakland Alumni Association for many years and has been the President for 15 years.
Dana represents Oakland on the Board of Directors of the Kennebec Valley Council of Government, on the Board of Directors of the Municipal Review Committee, on the Board of Directors of the Spirit of America Committee and is a member of the transfer station steering committee.
Bob Nutting was born and raised in Skowhegan. He graduated from Skowhegan High School and then from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston with a B.S. degree.
He is a licensed pharmacist and has worked in a number of retail and hospital pharmacies. Most notably, he owned and operated True’s Pharmacy in Oakland from 1972 to 2003. He served on the Oakland Town Council from 1977 to 1988. He was elected for eight two year terms to the Maine House of Representatives representing Oakland and Sidney. In 2010 he was elected by the House of Representatives to be Maine’s 100th Speaker of the House.
He and his wife, the former Wendy Libby of Freeport, were married in 1968 and have three children, Cheri, Christine, and Steve. They have five grandchildren.
Having served on the town council for 9 years I have seen energy and sustained growth in our community. I’m proud to have been part of dedicated Oakland representatives and employees who continue to put the town and its citizens first.
On a personal note; after graduating from Colby College, I have been coaching youth and Messalonskee teams off and on for 46 years as my grandchildren attend Belgrade and Oakland schools. While retired from 35 years in education, I manage some commercial rentals and do tax preparation. I stay active in local organizations, including: the Waterville Rotary Club, the Mid Maine Homeless Shelter, the Belgrade Lakes Dam Committee, the Seven Lakes Alliance, the KVCC Foundation Board, the Alfond Youth Center and RSU 18 programs. My wife Terry, continues to work part time at the Maine General in Augusta, tends flowers downtown and volunteers at the Food Pantry.
Dave grew up in nearby Skowhegan, Maine and has been a resident of Oakland for nearly 30 years, serving the local area in many ways. He is a graduate of Skowhegan Area High School and furthered his education to obtain an Associate’s degree in EMS and a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science through Kaplan University.
He has dedicated 27 years to the Oakland Police Department as a patrol officer and approximately 20 years to the Oakland Fire Department as a firefighter/Captain. He is a member of the Oakland Lion’s Club and a volunteer member of the Sidney Fire Department. For the past 33 years, he has been employed by the city of Augusta as a member of the Augusta Fire & Rescue Department, where he is the current Deputy Chief. He dedicates personal time to his family and friends, as well as enjoying the Maine outdoors.
