The Oakland Town Office accepts credit and debit cards. Please note: a 2.5% service charge will be added to all credit/debit payments to cover processing costs. The minimum service charge is $1.00.
If private sale:
Pervious title signed over to you, good bill of sale, current mileage and current proof of insurance.
If from a dealership:
Title application, bill of sale, current proof of insurance and current mileage. (if BRAND NEW, also bring in the window sticker.)
If you are new to Oakland you will also need proof of residency.

Valid rabies certificate and proof of spaying or neutering.
Voter Registration – When registering to vote you will need to provide the following:
Proof of identity – Drivers license, student ID, passport or signed social security card
Proof of residency – Utility bill, a bank statement, a government check, a paycheck or other government document that shows the voter’s name and address can be satisfied with a piece of mail with the voter’s name and address (not solicitation/junk mail) )
This can be done at the Town Office Monday-Thursday 7am-5pm
At the Oakland Fire Station from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. FMI please call 465-2631

General Assistance
Hours: 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
Persons who wish to apply for General Assistance may do so by contacting the Town Office at 465-7357. At this current time, we are conducting phone interviews along with possible scheduling of on-site appointments. In an emergency, during closed office hours, an applicant may contact the Oakland Police Department at 465-2202.
